What is the full form of SIM who invented SIM

SIM card has become an integral part of modern lifestyle.  There is a small brass chip in the SIM card view.  But it is only SIM card that helps us to contact each other.  Today, millions of SIM cards are active in the world.

The first SIM card was invented in 1991 by a German company called Giesecke & Devrient.  The details of the technical characteristics of the SIM card were first decided by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute.

Giesecke& Devrient Company is based in Munich, Germany, which specializes in making banknote securities and smart cards.  The SIM card was launched with the aim of providing GSM service in various European countries.

At that time, Europe had implemented the GSM (Global System for Mobile Networks) protocol.  With this protocol, any person could not only connect to their chosen network, but could also call on the number of people on other networks.

The world's first GSM phone call - Jisek & Deviant made only 300 SIM cards when the SIM was invented in 1991, which was sold to Finland's wireless network operator company Radiolinja.  The world's first GSM phone call was made in 1991 on the network of this Radiolinja company.  The then Prime Minister of Finland, Harri Holkeri, made the world's first GSM call on 1 July 1991 in Helsinki, Finland.

Since its introduction in 1991, there have been many changes in SIM cards.  Earlier it used to be in the shape of a credit card.  But now the nano-sim designed by state of the art technology has become very small.

1991: The world's first GSM call was made.  Today, millions of phone calls are made every day
1992: On 9 November 1992, Nokia introduced the world's first commercial GSM digital mobile phone - Nokia 1011 in the market
1993: First time SMS message was sent from person to person

2013: First eSIM launched.

SIM card full form

The SIM card is a short form of Subscriber Identity Module or Subscriber Identity Module (SIM).  It is used to identify the customer using the SIM card, as well as to talk through the mobile phone on the network.

The SIM card has two primary roles.

Identification: All SIM cards have a separate serial number that identifies the SIM card.  Mobile networks identify their users through this number. Certification: Mobile networks use a security mechanism that is created between the network and the SIM card to ensure that the customer's identity is valid.

Thus SIM cards store the information required for authentication and allow the user's phone to connect to the network.  With the help of serial number, we can use the SIM card in a new phone, without registering that phone on the network.

Apart from this, the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) number is in all SIM cards.  The SIM card also has some memory from which names and telephone numbers can be stored.

SIM card type

At the time of SIM's invention in 1991, there was only one type of SIM card.  There are three types of SIM cards commonly used today.  These are:

Mini SIM Card 1996 - Size 25 × 15 mm. Micro SIM card 2003 - Its size is 15 × 12 mm.  It does not contain the plastic around the circuit board. Nano SIM card 2012 - Its size is 12.3 × 8 x0.67 mm.

SIM cards can also be divided into two other types - GSM and CDMA.

What is eSIM?

Electronic SIM or Embedded SIM card is called e-SIM which is not purchased separately.  It is a small chip inside your phone that is used instead of a normal SIM card.  There is no need for any plastic or other physical SIM card.

This type of eSIM is already made in mobile.  But they also need to be connected to the mobile network.  Currently, not all mobile networks support it.  eSIM card cannot be separated from mobile.  Its size is less than that of a normal SIM card.
